About IEP Made Clear

A small reference site that explains the IEP process to the people it is about most: parents and guardians.

Why this site exists

The IEP process comes with a lot of vocabulary, a lot of paper, and short meetings. Many parents leave a meeting unsure what was decided or what they were allowed to ask. We write guides that explain the steps in everyday language, with the official terms alongside, so the paperwork makes sense.

Who it is for

Parents, guardians, and other family members of students who have an IEP, who might need one, or who are moving between schools. Teachers and therapists are welcome to read, but the guides are written from the family's side of the table.

How it is run

IEP Made Clear is independent. It has no ads, no affiliate links, and nothing for sale. Guides are written by the editorial desk, currently Maya Brennan, and re-checked on the schedule described on the how we review page.

What it does not do

It does not give legal advice, evaluate your child, or tell you what your child's IEP should say. Special education rules differ by state and by district. For advice about your own situation, contact your state parent training and information center or a qualified special education attorney.
